Proactive Islanding Meets Efficient Threat Detection: Addressing & Mitigating Cyberattacks in the Romanian Energy Chain
This Use Case deals with five real-world cybersecurity scenarios against the Romanian power grid, including false-data injections, unauthorized access, distributed denial of service attacks, advanced persistent threats, and proactive islanding in order to mitigate potential disturbances.
Romania’s energy mix is one of the most balanced in the EU, with hydropower, coal, nuclear energy, natural gas, and wind power having approximately equivalent shares of capacity and power generation. This use case aims to demonstrate the efficacy of ELECTRON in terms of detecting and mitigating a plethora of large-scale cyberattacks against the transmission and distribution grids of Romania.
