Protecting the Renewables Energy Chain from Cyberattacks and Data Leaking
The main objective of this use case is to improve cyber security through the identification and assessment of risks in windfarms, approaching of cyber-secure architectures and communications and, where appropriate, designing and developing effective actions against the problems.
Renewable generation parks are becoming one of the main sources of generation in the electricity system. These systems in operation are coexisting with OT control systems where non secure versions of industrial protocols have been implemented (Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, IEC 870-5-102). Therefore, a widespread attack that shuts down generation plants can have a critical impact.
