Profile

The University of Western Macedonia (UOWM) was founded in Kozani, Greece, in 2003, under Presidential Decree No. 92 / 11-4-2003. UOWM includes seven schools and 22 departments, while the main campus is located in Kozani, Greece. UOWM has participated in more than 150 European and national research projects. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and, more specifically, the ITHACA Lab focuses on research and training activities related to the Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services, including smart grid, e-healthcare and precision agriculture. ITHACA has published more than 200 research papers in recognised journals and venues related to the field of computer communications and cybersecurity.

Role in the project

UOWM has taken on the role of the ELECTRON technical coordinator, thus monitoring and controlling the ELECTRON technical activities. Moreover, UOWM is the leader of the Work Package (WP2) responsible for generating (a) the ELECTRON architecture, (b) the respective requirements and (c) the ELECTRON pilot scenarios. UOWM plays also a significant role in federated intrusion detection and Software-Defined Networking (SDN)-based mitigation actions. Finally, UOWM will participate in the implementation of Honeypot as a Service (HaaS), providing industrial honeypots and their smart orchestration.
