Profile

University of Cyprus (UCY) is the leading university and the most active research institution in Cyprus. In its portfolio are several FP7 and H2020 projects, 10 ERC Grants and 2 ERC Advanced Grants. Currently, UCY has over 350 active externally and national funded research projects.  

KIOS CoE is the largest research centre within UCY with expertise in fundamental and applied research and innovation focusing on intelligent monitoring, management, and safety of critical infrastructures. KIOS CoE is running over 40 research funded projects including an ERC Synergy Grant, a “Teaming” Project funded by EU Structural Funds and several H2020 and national funded projects. 

Role in the project

UCY will lead the task related to sandboxing applications, simulations and validation of the ELECTRON solutions, offering its power system testbed facility as an advanced, isolated testing and validation environment for the ELECTRON components.  

UCY also contributes to WP2, WP5, WP8 and WP9. Specifically, UCY will assisting in the definition of scenarios, security and privacy, as well as system requirements from the EPES, it will contribute with innovative solutions for pro-active islanding schemes for nano and microgrids, and on the pre-piloting and validation phase of the ELECTRON.
