Editorial

This is the first newsletter of the ELECTRON an EU R&D funded project. The first newsletter provides general information about the project. 

We hope that you find the contents interesting, we would be happy to receive any feedback from you. 

ELECTRON at a glance

ELECTRON is an acronym for rEsilient and seLf-healed EleCTRical pOwer Nanogrid and is an Innovation action. ELECTRON aims at delivering a new-generation Electrical Power and Energy Systems (EPES) platform, capable of empowering the resilience of energy systems against cyber, privacy, and data attacks through four main pillars:

  • risk assessment and certification
  • anomaly detection and prevention
  • failure mitigation
  • energy restoration

ELECTRON will address internalthreats and gaps through AR-VR-based personnel training and certification), while fostering the cyber protection standardisation and certification via three novel authorities, namely:

  • the cybersecurity lighthouse,
  • the cybersecurity training and certification authority,
  • and the energy trading centre.

Cybersecurity in the Electrical Power and Energy System  (EPES): an armour against cyber and privacy attacks and data breaches

The consortium

ELECTRON consortium consists of thirty seven partners from thirteen EC members and asociates countries: Belgium, Cyprus, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden and Ukraine, and one third country, Azerbaijan

Partners represent all elemenents of the EPES value chain: research institutes, universities, technology providers, testbed providers (end-users), industrial partners and SMEs. 

Use Cases

In ELECTRON we have the following use cases and demonstrations:

  • UC1: Addressing and Mitigating Cyberattacks and Data Leaking in Ukraine & Azerbaijan 
  • UC2: Looking ahead: Providing a Resilient Electric Vehicle Ecosystem
  • UC3: Protecting the Renewables Energy Chain from Cyberattacks and Data Leaking
  • UC4: Proactive Islanding Meets Efficient Threat Detection: Addressing & Mitigating Cyberattacks in the Romanian Energy Chain
